Kandy to Hanthana and Galaha (Stage 1) covers a trekking distance of 12.8 km, taking approximately 3 hours and 50 minutes. Begin at the Ceylon Tea Museum, trek through Hanthana Tea Estate with views of the Knuckles Range, pass filming locations from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and finish at Galaha village. Overnight stay in Galaha.
Galaha to Loolkandura (Stage 2) covers 14.7 km with an estimated duration of 4 hours and 45 minutes. Trek along estate roads and pine forests, visit Loolkandura, Sri Lanka’s first tea plantation founded by James Taylor, and enjoy spectacular views of rock formations and rainforest landscapes. Overnight stay in the Loolkandura area.
Loolkandura to Tawalantenne (Stage 3) covers 18.1 km with an estimated duration of 5 hours and 45 minutes. Trek along historic British-engineered estate roads, enjoy views of Kotmale Valley and Adam’s Peak (weather permitting), and admire Ramboda Pass and waterfall scenery. Overnight stay in Tawalantenne.
Tawalantenne to Pundaluoya (Stage 4) covers 14.0 km with an estimated duration of 5 hours. Cross Ramboda Oya with waterfall views, walk along abandoned colonial roads and tea estates, and enjoy views of Kotmale Reservoir and Kadadora Viharaya. Overnight stay in Pundaluoya.
Pundaluoya to Watagoda (Stage 5) covers 14.1 km with an estimated duration of 4 hours. Trek through village trails, waterfalls, and rice paddies, enjoy stunning views of the Kotmale River gorge, visit the iconic “Great Wall” tea estate viewpoint, and finish at Watagoda Railway Station.
