See baby elephants roaming around their cozy foster home, enjoying their lunch, or taking a bath at Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Visit Peradeniya Botanical garden followed by Kandy museum; a leisurely walk by the Kandy Lake and wander through the streets of Kandy city.
You will be picked up from your Colombo hotel and driven to Kandy, with an en route visit to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Established in 1975, Pinnawala is home to orphaned and rescued elephants and is known for its successful breeding program. Arrive around 9:00 am to witness the elephant feeding at 9:15 am, followed by a chance to see the herd being bathed in the nearby river.
After visiting Pinnawala, continue to Kandy with a stop at the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. Located by the Mahaweli River, this historic garden dates back to the British colonial era and is famous for its vast collection of orchids, spices, medicinal plants, and palm trees. Stroll through lush green lawns, admire flower arches, see the giant Javan tree, and enjoy the scenic suspension bridge. This beautiful garden offers a peaceful and memorable experience before continuing your journey to Kandy.
Transfer to Kandy in time for lunch at Oak ray Restaurant.
After lunch, enjoy a city tour of Kandy including Upper Lake Drive, Market Square, Gem Museum/Lapidary, and other key attractions. Kandy, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was the last capital of the Sinhalese Kings and fell under British rule in 1815. Located around the scenic Kandy Lake, it features historic landmarks like the Bathing Pavilion (Ulpenge) and Kiri Samudraya island, and is today a vibrant centre of Buddhism, arts, crafts, dance, music, and culture.
You will be taken back to your hotel at the end of the tour.
